(Reuter's Telegrams.) Melbourne, October 14. The New Zealand Loan, and Mercantile Agency Company report that the accounts of the Victorian wheat crop are favourable, the crops have been improved by the rain, and it is hoped that the yield will bo larger than last year. As regards South Australia the accounts are conflicting. From some districts the yields are reported to be much larger than last year, but in others they are only about the average. Melbourne, October 15. The Legislative Assembly has been sitting all night, the Opposition having stonewalled the Estimates over the educational vote. The House rose at 1 p.m. October 14. A severe gale accompanied by heavy rains has been blowing for the last 24 hours, during which time s£in of rain has fallen in Sydney. October 15. New Zealand wheat is selling at 4s 3d per bushel, and oats at 2s lOd ; maize is at 3s 4d per 561b. Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces are at £25 per ton. Melboukne, October 16. It is rumoured that heavy defalcations have occurred on the part of an official in one of the local banks. October 17. The rumour that defalcationshave occurred on the part of an official in one of the banks is now confirmed. The defaulter is one of the tellers in the Bank of Australia. The defalcations amount to £1000. Melbourne, October 18. Mr Ogg, one of the Victorian railway commissioners, is dead. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Stodart Campbell, teller of the Bank of Australasia, whose defalcations are known to be nearly £2000. He has disappeared, and is supposed to have committed suicide. The prisoners Caffrey, Perm, and Lizzie Graham were again brought up at the Police Court to-day ; the two men being charged with murder at the Great Barrier Island, and Graham with being an accessory after the fact. They were remanded pending the receipt of the New Zealand warrant. Sydney, October 14. The vote of censure on the Government moved by Sir Henry Parkes was negatived by 58 to 34. The session is expected to be closed at the beginning of next week. In the Legislative Assembly last night an amendment moved by Mr Abbott on the proposed vote of censure, favouring retrenchment and additional taxation, was carried. Sydney, October 16. All doubts as to the safety of the steamship Wendouree were set at rest by the arrival of the steamer here. She left Melbourne on the 12th inst. The guests at the Municipal Jubilee have gone on a trip to the Blue Mountains to-day. Adelaide, October 14, The Garonne (Plymouth, September 3) arrived this morning. Adelaide, October 14. The Commissioner of Lands has received a letter reporting that an alluvial goldfield has been discovered at Nankaringa, and that it is expected to prove a great success. A nugget weighing an ounce has been found. Adelaide, October 16. Wheat, 5s to 5s Id; flour — town brands, £11 5s to £11 15s ; country, £10 12s 6d to £10 15s. The report that a payable goldfield has been discovered at Nankaringa is fully confirmed. One digger obtained a pound weight of gold in one week, One hundred and fifty men are now on the field. Hobart, October 16. The Tasmanian Legislative Assembly has passed a bill providing for the payment of iperalaenj.
