(Rbutbb's Telegrams.) London, September 1. The cricket match Australians v. South England was resumed and concluded at Gravesend to-day. The home team, with six wickets down for 90, continued their first innings, which closed for 179 runs. Being 120 behind their opponents, the Englishmen followed on, and when stumps were drawn had lost one wicket for 106 runs. The Englishmen followed on for the second innings, and succeeded in putting together 450 runs before they were all disposed of. Hearn (caught, 111), M. Eeade (caught, 109), and W. W Read (caught, [87) were the most successful batsmen. The match was j declared drawn, time not permitting of it ! being played out. London, September 2. The cricket match Australian Eleven against the team selected by Lord Landsborough was commenced at Scarborough to-day. The Englishmen went in first, and succeeded in compiling 266 runs for the loss of three wickets when stumps were drawn for the day, Grace contributing 92 and Scotton 71. Scott, the Australian captain, retired hurt j during the progress of the game. (Peb United Press Association.) Wellington, September 7. The Wellington Cricket Association have j received a letter from Mr Tennent, asking what terms they will give for a visit of the Australian Eleven.
