DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET.
J. H. Kilgour, grain and produce broker, reports, under date August 4, as follows : — Wheat. — There is no alteration to note. I quote red straw of milling quality at 4s 6d to 4s 7d, and velvet and Tuscan at 4s Sd. Fowl feed is becoming nearly as valuable as milling, 4s 3d being the price for good lots. Oats. — The market is firm, but quiet, at last week's quotations, via., 2s 5d to 2s 6d for milling, 2s 3d to 2s 4d for bright short feed, and 2s to 2s 2d for ordinary. Barley. — Malting is quiet at 3s to 3s 3d for prime, feed and milling wanted at 2s 3d to 2s 6d. Chaff. — The recent fine weather and the advance in prices have caused holders to press forward supplies, and the market has a tendency to weakness. I would advise holders to wait as we are likely to be very short before we have another croj>, but at present supplies are abundant, especially of straw chaff. Potatoes. — I quote £3 15s for Southern, aud £4 for Kakanuis. Demand only local. . Grass Seed. — Ryegrass, 5s to 5s 3d for clean seed off old pasture. Cocksfoot is hardening ; present quotations, 4£d to sd. Butter. — The market is glutted with salt, there being no shipping outlet. Fresh is plentiful at Is. Eggs. — Is 2d per dozen could be got to-day. Turnips. — In over-supply at 20s. Carrots. — Quiet at 40s.
