LAND BOARD.
At the meeting of the Land Board on Wednesday morning there were present — Messrs J. P. Maitland (Chief Commissioner), Duncan, and Clark.
An application from the Gordon Town Board to have sections 7 and 10, block XXII, Bast Gore, vested in the board for municipal purposes was referred to the Government for consideration.
LAWRENCE.
Michael Ryan applied for a ten years' lease of a portion of block LV, Lawrence. — Declined.
GLENOMAhU,
Robert Scadden asked that 100 acres of unsurveyed land on the Ovvake, west of sections 37 and 50, block VIII, Glenomaru, be opened on perpetual leasing. — Declined, as the board intend shortly to recommend Government to have a block surveyed for settlement in the district.
Ranger Hughan reported that James M'Michael had abandoned deferred-payment section 9, block 111, Otama.— Resolved to forfeit the license for non-payment of purchase money ; land to be reoffered at former upset, with valuation amounting to £40 10s.
WAIKAKA.
The Ranger recommended that John Hofman's application for a license to mine for lignite on section 18, block I, Waikaka, be granted ; aud that H. Jones receive notice to pay three years' pent in arrear, otherwise his license will be forfeited. — Recommendations agreed to, Hofman to get a seven years' license at £1 per acre, with£l Is license fee.
Joseph Puller was granted a depasturing license over section 3, block IX, Waikaka, at a yearly fee of £3.
LAUDER.
John Wilson asked that section 54, block 111, Lauder, be set apart for sale on the deferredpayment system. Mr W. L. Simpson made a similar application. — Referred to Chief Surveyor as to making railsvay reserve the boundary of the section.
WAICATirU.
Mrs Jane Meiklejohn asked that the rent of Run 9, Wakatipu, be reduced to the proportion of other runs in the district, and that the boundary be altered so as to include portion of Run 8 ; or that permission be granted to surrender the run. — Referred to the ranger for a report as to boundary. Applicant to be informed that Government cannot reduce the rent.
NASEBY.
Applications to exchange agricultural leases for deferred-payment licenses were agreed to as follows : — J. Long, section 6 ; W. Guflie, section 7 ; A. M'Lellan, section 5, block XI, Naseby. District Surveyor Barron recommended that portion of section 5, block IX, Naseby, containing 1 rood 28 poles, be sold at the rate of £10 per acre ; also that the small triangular portion on the south be sold at that rate to the owner of section 3 (Hoswell). — First piece of land to be offered as suggested, with valuation to the extent of £150, subject to the approval of Government ; the triangular piece to be offered separately at £2 upset. An application from the Otago Curling Club, Naseby, to have section 11, block IV, Naseby township, reserved as a dam site, was referred to the warden to have the locality marked on the plan.
SUTTON.
W. Quin, on behalf of D. Ballingall, applied to lease or occupy for grazing section 3, block I, Sutton. — Declined.
GOLD MINING,
Certificates of application for gold mining leases were approved of as follows : — Daniel Enwright and another, section 22, block XI, Rhotover ; John Empen and others, section 6, block IV, Hedgehope.
TUAPEKA.
F. B. Williams' application to complete purchase of sections 30 and 31, block XI, Tuapeka West, was approved of.
EAST GORE.
Donald M'Askill applied to be allowed to capitalise payments on sections 3, 4, and 5, block XXIII, East Gore. — Agreed to.
APPLICATIONS TO PURCHASE.
The following applications to purchase under agricultural lease were approved of : — W. C. Turner, section 7, block 111, Blackstone; F. S. Reid, section 4, block XI, Naseby.
