Dunedin Curling Clnl).

The annual meeting of members of the Dunedin Curling Club was held on Friday, the president (Mr W. Wright) being in the chair. After the initiation of five new members into the Royal Caledonian Club of Scotland, the election of office bearers was proceeded with and resulted as follows : — President, Mr G. H. Moodie ; vicepresident, Mr James Anderson; representative members, Messrs T. Callender and G. Young ; chaplain, Rev. Dr Stuart ; hon.sec. and treasurer, Mr J. H. Morrison ; committee of management —Messrs D. Baxter, J. Jack, J. M'Neill, A. M'Diarmid, W. Cuningham Smith, and W. Wright.

After the business meeting the members adjourned to the usual dinner of beef and greens ; Mr Wright, the retiring president, taking the chair, and Mr G. H. Moodie the vice-chair. The toasts proposed were :— " The Queen " (proposed by the chairman), " Our Patron, Duke of Rothesay, Prince of Scotland, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew " (proposed by the vice-chair-man), " The Royal Caledonian Curling Club " (proposed by the vice-chairman and responded to by Mr Oallender). In proposing the toast of " The Dunedin Curling Club" the Chairman gave a history of the doings of the past year. On taking office the committee found 41 bers on the roll ; of these nine had retired during the year, and one had been removed by death. The financial position was satisfactory, and there was a credit balance. Turning to the subject of the games played, Mr M'Diarmid had won the match at points. A team of eight members had travelled to Naseby ■ aud had been received in a very hearty manner. The game against the Otago Central Club was lost by 14 points, and that against the St. Bathans Club gained by one point. Owing to bad weather, the match against the Mount Ida Club could not be played. Mr Baxter responded to the toast. The following were the other toasts : " The Curling Clubs of New Zealand " (proposed by Mr Brydone and responded to by Mr Oallender), "Our Young Members" (proposed by Mr Esther and responded to by the youngest member present, Mr M'Pherson), " Outdoor Sports " (proposed by Mr Edgar and responded toby Mr Ogg), " Pillars of the Bonspiel Rivalry and Goodfellowship " (proposed by Mr Morrison and responded to by Mr M'Neill) " The President " (proposed by Mr Brydone), " Curlers' Wives, Sweethearts, and Bairns" (proposed by Mr Pirie and responded to by Messrs Anderson and Long).
