An Ecclesiastical Disagreement.

Auckland, April 29. — An ecclesiastical row is on here, and there is no small amount of grumbling amongst the laity of the Roman Catholic Church in reference to the removal of Father Walter BTDonald to Howick and Panmure, which has been ordered by Bishop Luck. Forty laymen waited on Bishop Luck at his residence and remonstrated against the removal. The Bishop, after hearing the statements of the deputation, said he had directed Father Walter to be removed from Auckland to Howick and Panmure in the interests of the church and diocese — for which he was responsible, and not the members of the deputation. Some very warm language was used,- and Bishop Luck felt it due 'to himself to order one of the deputation to leave the room. The deputation left without having received ■any satisfaction. A deputation of ladies also waited on Bishop Luck to urge that Father Walter should be retained in Auckland. The appeal was quite in vain. The laity felt themselves much aggrieved, and the turn of events will be watched with interest. The impression is that the intention is to place the diocese in the hands exclusively of Benedictines and curtail the influence and power of the secular clergy. ,

"Staying" Power.— lt will be interesting to athletes, and to all who value the power of physical endurance, to know that at "Home" and in the sister , colonies an article has of late years come into general use, which is very strongly recommended as being an exceedingly pleasant beverage, and which yet imparts, in an unusually large degree, what is expressively termed "staying power" —in other words, nutriment and strength. We refer to Oadbury's •• Cocoa Essence."
