Easter Services.

The usual Easter services were held in all the Anglican churches on Sunday. There were three services held at St. Paul's Church, all of wiiich were well attended. There was a celebration of the holy communion at 8 a.m., and also one .-.fter the usual 11 o'clock service. The Yen. Archdeacon Edwards preached in the morning, taking his text from John. chap, xx, verse 10. 'The Revs. Dr Belcher and Grainger also took pa.-t in the service. The morning anthem was " Christ being raised " .(Elvey). In the evening the i>'ev. Dr Belcher occupied the pulpit. Theautnein sung on that occasion was " Christ is rivu "' (Elvey).

At All Saints' Church on Sunday th<' interior was beautifully decorated. There \» ere two celebrations of the holy communion, a large number of communicants being prt.Mtnt. Service was conducted in the morning by tboltev. Mr Fitchett, who preached on "The Doctrine of the Resurrection in Relation to Scieucc- and Criticism." The same gentleman also occupied the pulpit in the evening. The anthem sung in the evening was " They have taken away my Lord" (Stainer) ; and the one iv the morning, "Now, on the first day of the week'" (Lahet ).

At St. Matthew's Church the services were conducted by the incumbent (the Rev. Mr Powell). The church was decorated with ferns and flowers, not lavishly but with much tuste, and there were large congregations in the morning and evening. At St. Joseph's Cathedral on Sunday fJigh Mass was celebrated by Bishop Morau, with the Rev. Fathers Veriker and Keenan as deauou and sub-deacon respectively. The manner in which the choir sang reflected great credit on the organist and choirmaster (Herr Scheruk). In theevening.after pontifical vespers, theßishop preached at length regarding the festival of the day. At the benediction, Mrs Angus, who was in excellent voice, sang ""0 salutaris." At both services the Rev. Father Lynch officiated as master of the ceremonies.
