The East and West Coast Railway Syndicate.

CHBisTCHDiicH, April 28. Mr 0. 0. Bowen, chairman of the guarantors of the West Coast and Nelson railway contract, has received a letter from Mr Scott, the London delegate, giving the following particulars as to the 2>ersonnel of the syndicate formed to construct the railway. The Lloyd, Barnetts-, and Bosanque's Bank (Limited), which takes the chief part in promoting the company for the formation of the East and West Const railway, is one of the strongest private banks in England. The board of directors of the proposed company is composed of only a few working members. Mr T. Salt, M.P., is deputy chaii« man of Lloyd, Barretts, and Bosanquet's Bank, He is also chairman o f the North Staffordshire Railway Company, and war a member of the last ( JoiiMervative Administration. Mr Edward Brodie Hoare (not Home, as telegraphed) is one of the city directors of the same bank. Sir Charles Clifford is too well known in New Zealand to need further description. Mr Hilton is a member of the well-known firm of Miles Bros, and Co., Gracechurch street. The solicitors are Messrs Flechfield and Williams, solicitors to the Bank of England. It is the intention of the directors to put the scheme before the public in London as free from promotion money as they have received it from the guarantors in Christchurch.
