WAIWEKA.

April 28. — The weather for a considerable time has been remarkably fino, allowing agriculture to be proceeded with in all its branches without interruption. There is already a good quantity of wheat sown in the district, and in most cases it is up and looking well. Oats are also being sown extensively, and so far they are being got in in real good order. Turnips are a fair crop in most cases. The best I have seen is that of Messrs Anderson Bros. It was sown on the first furrow, and the bulbs are a tremendous size, many of them measuring from 40in to 45in round, and they are still growing. School CojiamTKK. — The election of a committee for thi) ensuiug term took place on Tuesday evening, there being about 16 householders present, 12 of whom were nominated. The result was th^t only one or two changes from last year's committee wer<* made. Mr H. Koseveare I acted aa returning oliicGi\ and Mr J. A. Anderson scrutineer Them w.»k some little doubt as to the school boundary ; but after some discussion it was agreed to eleot members from the

old district, as the committee had not been officially notified of any change. I Understand the attendance at the school is keeping well under the present teacher* Mr Clarke, tho usual average being nearly 00. There is some talk of an entertainment of some sort being given in the township soon ; but whether it is to be a service of song or a general concert is liot yet decided. Whatever form it may take, however, I am sure it will be thoroughly appreciated.
