School Commissioners.

The monthly meeting of the School Commissioners, held on Tuesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (Chairman), Hon. Dr Menzies, Hon. W. H. Reynolds, and Mr W. H. Pearson.

The Secretary laid on the table a memo, giving the particulars of vacant sections in the Waikaia, Wendonside, ancl Greenvale districts. — It was decided to call for tenders for the lease of sections iv the Waikaia district at at an upset of 6d per acre for seven years.

The Secretary also reported the sale of leases at Wyndham and Waikaia on the 27th and 29th ult., realising £338 8s lOd per annum. — It was decided to call for tenders for grazing lease for the vacant sections in block X, Wyndham, for a period of one year, at. the upset of 6d per acre.

The Commissioners decided to offer suction 14, block XI, Greenvale, for seven years' lease, at an upset of Is per acre.

An application was received from the secretary of the Waikaia Athemuum Committee for some land towards an endowment for the support of that institution.— The Commissioners regretted that they had no power to entertain the proposal to endow the Athenseum.

It was resolved to recommend the Laud Board to reduce the price of the remaining unsold deferred - payment sections in the Wendon and Wendonside districts to 30s per acre.

Accouuts amounting to £31 lo's o'd were passed for payment.
