Lavington made play directly the flag fell, and quickly placed a gap of several lengths between himself and his field, at the head of which were Madcap and Camerine. Running down by the training ground the Adelaide horse still led, with Maydew as his nearest attendant, Oamerine and Stafford being next, several lengths away. Kacing towards the turn Maydew was still second, with Claptrap and the favourite next. Fairly into the turn Maydew dropped back, and Claptrap made a forward gmove. Before the distance-post was reached Claptrap made an effort to catch Lavington, who was still sailing away, and Britisher and Remus came out of the ruck, but the countryman horse was • never caught, and he won by nearly two lengths from Claptrap, who was a like distance in front of Britisher, with Remus fourth, Ringmaster and Bohemian finishing next. Time, 2 mm. 10£ sec.
