Hermit again heads the list of winning stallions, his stock having won during the year over £30,000. The following comparative table shows the positions of the chief winning stallions for the past four years : — '
Hermit had 22 winners, of whom Philosophy won six races and £6514; Gay Hermit, the same number of races and £4004. Master Kildare had only two winners, but one of them was Melton, who won over £11,000. The following is a comparative table of the value of the principal stakes decided during the flat racing season :—: —
These are followed by 24 races' worth over £1000 each.
