LAWN TENNIS.

A tennis match, which it is hoped will be an annual one, took place at Lawrence on Saturday last between the Dunedin Bowling, Lawn Tennis, and Fives Club and the Tuapeka Bowling and Tennis Club. The match was to be decided in favour of the side that won the greater number of games out of 10 sets. The following is the score : —

Lawrence (Taylor and Woods) beat Dunedin (Edgar and Hemlvy) by ti— s, G 4, o— li, (5—3, (5—4. Lawrence (Crook and Hindmarsh) beat Dunedhi (Brown und M'Fiirlane) by (5 3, (5—5, 4— <>, 6—5. o—l.0 — 1. Total — Lawrence, 57 ; Dunedin, A'i.

A match between the Green Island and Bruce Clubs was played at Milton on Saturday, and was won by Bruce by 45 games to 35. There were six players on each side, Messrs M'Blrea, M'Gill, Poppelwell, Mitchell, Gourley, andNevill representing Milton, and Messrs Milne, Blair, Harraway, Scott, Kennedy, and Miller Green Island. Each couple played three sets.
