The Black Peter Fund.
TO THE EDITOR. Sue, — I notice that sufficient money has been subscribed to enable the £50 to be claimed from the Government. As I inaugurated the fund, and solicited you to act as the treasurer until the amount was subscribed, I think I can confidently recommend that Messrs Vincent Pyke, M.H.It, for the Diutstan, and J. (!. Brown, M.H.R. for Tuapeka, should act as treasurers of the fund, see that the Government grant is secured, and disburse the money to Peters in such a manner as will be satisfactory both to the recipient and the subscribers. Before closing the subject I bpg to tender my sincere thanks to Mr Pyke, the people of BalHutha, and others who have liberally subscribed and otherwise promoted the success of the Peter Fund, which you kindly allowed me to place before the people of Ofcago in the columns of your paper. — I am, &c, Andkew G. Nirm. Granville, Greymouth, Jan. 12. [Arrangements are being made for a local committee to deal with the matter. Mr Pyke, who has been acting as treasurer for some time past, informs us that the amount in hand is.a little over .€SO, and that the Government subsidy will be received in a few days. — Ed.J
