Dairy factories are steadily on the increase throughout the Colony. It is now proposed to start one at Fortrose, and the settlers there are taking great interest in the movement. News from the South Canterbury back country states that the present season's wool clip promises to be the best yet obtained in the district. Wool is rapidly coming to hand. The Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association appear determined to possess the model show yards of the Colony, for they have decided upon offering a premium of £50 for the best sketch plan of a complete show yard suitable for their needs. Mr W. Boag, of Christchurch, who acted as judge at the recent Invercargill show, has promised a prize of five guineas for the next show for the largest number of points in plain and fancy fresh butter.
