Advices from Adelaide state that the South Australian crop accounts are very unfavourable, and the quality generally much worse than last season. The Victorian crops are generally reported to be most favourable, though in some districts the accounts are unfavourable owing to the shortness of the rainfall. Messrs R. Goldsbrough and Co.'s annual grain circular states that the damage caused to the wheat crop by the hot winds prevalent during the month of October exceeds anticipations, and believe the surplus available for export will not exceed the last amount. Melbourne, December 11. It is announced that the Government clo not intend to proceed with the prosecutions against Joseph Symes, the Freethought lecturer. Melbourne, December 12. At the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's weekly sale yesterday competition was on the increase, and the market generally firmer for crossbred wools. There was a very active demand for all fine, good-conditioned wool. The highest price obtained was ] ljd for 68 bales of first and second combing from the Western district of Victoria ; while 14 bales of crossbred from the same district realised lid. Greasy merino sold up to lOJd. No representative parcels of scoured fleece wools or washed fleece were offered. The market for these descriptions is without change. The Victorian Gazette contains a notice to the effect that in view of the outbreak of cholera on board the Dorunda all vessels from Queens-
land ports will be subject to quarantine on arrival at Port Philip. It is announced that the Melbourne Cricket Club has decided to send Home a team during the coming season. Melbourne, December 14. Sydney, December 11. •New Zealand wheat is at 3s 8d per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s 2d per bushel ; maize, per 561b, 3s lid ; Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces, £26 per ton. Sydney, December 12. The., official reception of Lord Carington, the new Governor, took place this afternoon. There was an imposing demonstration, the streets being lined with crowds of people, who accorded a most enthusiastic welcome to Lord and Lady Carington. Adelaide, December 10. The average wheat crop for the coming season is estimated at from 2 to 3J bushels per acre. Adelaide, December 11. Shipping wheat is steady. Town flour, £9 per ton ; country brands, £8. Adelaide, December 14. Sir William Robinson performed the ceremony of opening the new Arcade on Saturdaj'. A crowd of the unemployed assembled and hooted his Excellency because he drove in an imported carriage and not in one manufactured in the Colony.
