Sire, Young Vanquisher, imported from Scotland (direct from the breeder)by the late David Nesbit, Ksq. Young Vanquisher is a bay horse, 17 hands high, with immense power, and without doubt the gnmdost actionetl horse in the Colonies. He is very compactly made, and although having very large boue, it is of the right wiry, clean, flat kind, with dood feet, and plenty of the right kind of hair fashionably set on his legs, having the lull character ol a high-class Clydesdale horse, while his temper is excellent, being tree from all kinds of vice. Young Vanquisher was bred by Mr Peter Anderson, Stanraer, Scotland, out of his celebrated mare Sally, by Lochiergus Champion ; grandsire, Blair's Champion. Sally gained First Prize at Glasgow, the Johnston and Stanraer Exhibitions, as the best mare ot (twPlydesdale breed exhibited I here. Young Vanquisher, 'ov Vanquisher, by OKI Sir William Wallace, by Lothian Tarn, a ivell-known and most successful breeding and prize-talking horse ; among&t other numerous prizes, he gained the First Prize ot £i oat the Haddington Show, and in the same year lie rained the First Prize at the Highland Soci'ty's Show, held that year in Glasgow, as the best stallion ol iAie Clydesdale breed. Old Sh- William Wallace gained the Fifty-guinea Prize awarded by the Kintyre and BarrioK Societies respectively, for the best Clydesdale entire. Young Vanquisher took First Prize at Timaru for most points in Clydesdale draught entires, and his stock are Beeond to none iv New Zealand. . Ben Lomond, dam Maggie Lauder, imported by Mr George Aikenhead, is believed to be the best brood mare in the Colony. Her first foal, Glenlyon, by Glenesk, was epld for 175 guineas, and took First Awards at Oamaru , Timaru, and Christcliurch, two years in succession. A sifeter of Ben Lomond, by Young Banker, was purchased by Mr- Menlove, Windsor Park, at Fleming and Hedley's sale, for 185 guineas, and was reckoned the premier iilly of that year, ibggie Lauder, by Lord Lyou, imported from Scotland} grandsire, Ben Lomond, imported from Scotland, Ben Lomond's breeding, then, is beyond doubt— his Pedigree is oomi/ected with the very best strains of the Clydesdale blood in Scotland for generations back.
