WINTON.
December 8. — We are now enjoying splendid weather, and vegetation is making rapid progress, which, after {he ungenial spring we have had, is a matter for congratulation. Dairy FAOTony.-^Some of our leading farmers are agitating for the establishment of a dairy factory for the district. This is a matter that should be earnestly taken up by the settlers of the districts, as the fine grass lands of this part should be able to furnish a large quantity of milk, and our good roads enable settlers to deliver it with ease, makes the way plain. A meeting on the subject is to be held shortly, which I hope will receive the support of all concerned.
Agricultural Society. — At the recent annual meeting of the Chamber of Agriculture, the report of the year's proceedings and the balance-sheet was read and unanimausly adopted. Several new members were added, and the office-bearers for ,the ensuing year were elected— Mr Thomas Paterson, president; and Mfr John K. Lea, secretary and treasurer. Both qf these gentlemen received a very cordial vote qf thanks for their services during the past year. We aro glad to learn that the sqoiety st\ows signs of life and a career of usefulness. Cattle Sales. — The new cattle and sheep ya,rds of Messrs "Wilson, Tame, and Co. are now completed, and promise to be an important acquisition to the district. Two large sales have taken place, with most satisfactory results, and a third, we see by advertisement, has a large quantity of stock entered. Messrs Wilson and Tame deserve well of the people of the district, and we hope they will find themselves remunerated for their large outlay in the erection of such substantial premises.
