Betting: 2 to 1 agst Blue Grass, 5 to 1 Hygeia horse, 5 to 1 Lady Adelaide, 6 to 1 Hambledon, 7 to 1 Greenbank, 20 to 1 Equity, 20 to 1 Bonaparte. When the signal was given Hambledon on the rails was the first to show in advance, and he made play, attended by the Hygeia horse and Bonaparte, with Greenbank next aud Blue Grass last. So they ran to the stand, where the Hygeia horse took a clear lead of Hambledon, B6naparte going on third, Equity fourth, and Greenbank fifth, Blue Grass being still last. Except that Equity took third place at the mile and 'a-h'alf ■ starting-post,' there was no further change until six furlongs had been covered;,. then Bonaparte dropped back and Lady Adelaide became fourth, whilst Greenbank was pulled back into the company of Blue Grass, no further change occurring until six furlongs from home. Here Hygeia horse was still showing the way, with Hambledon and Lady Adelaide in close attendance, while Blue Grass was running in their heels well clear of Greenbank, with Equity now beaten off. As they came round the final bend the Hygeia horse began to lose ■ ground, and he was well beaten a quarter of a mile, from home, where Lady Adelaide and' : Greenbank were also in trouble. Hambledon then took up the running, followed -by Blue Grass, who' closed with him at the distance, and getting tho best of a good rac| won, by three-quarters of a length; a bad third. Time, 3min. 35 2-5 sec.
