At the Police Court to-day James Mabin, a runholder at Benmo^e, was charged on remand with having attempted to Bet fire to some Btacks on the farm of' a settler namad O'Donnell. After further evidence had boen taken as to the character of the prosecutor, the Bench dismissed the information, holding tbat a prima facie case bad not been made out. They considered that Mabin's witnesses had proved that he was at home on the date when be waa said to bave boen seen at the stacks, and pointed out that O'Donnell's evidence was uncorroborated,
