&ATE ADVERTISEMENTS. ' ~ NEW AlHEiafclCAN »I^»ICINE. ■r NEIL, KSDIOAL BOTANIST, &c, wishes to tfrank his numerous customers for their confidence and support. Having returned from f A visit to Amerioa, whither I went for *he purpose of gaining knowledge, so that I "might be the better able to treat the many who prefer the herbal Bystem of medicine, I am happy to Bay that I have been fortunate in meeting with some of the most successful Ecleotia Doctors in Chicago, who gave me valuable information iv the Treatment oE Diseases. Daring 'my stay in America I heard 500 Lectures, saw numerous operations, passed a satisfactory Examination, and obtained the diploma of the Bennett Eclectic College of Medicine. From the fourteen Professors of this progressive school, I obtained some valuable prescriptions which have been tried for years, and found excellent, which I will compound, and name them as follows, after the medical gentlemen who gave them to me : — Proffessor Davis' Cure for Asthma* This gentleman has large and successful practice. He assured me that this remedy is a first-class one. Professor Whelford's Treatment for various Diseases. This gentleman is an old Praotitioner whose office is kept filled with a stream of patients from morning to night. Professor Rush's Treatment for the Skin and Diseases of Generative System. From the immense number of patients treated by this doctor, without the uae of mercury, and < many of the aame tichool who manage to cure ' without it,' proof is abundant that that deleterious drug ought not to be administered internally \ that Vegetable Remedies can do all that is claimed for it, without hay- ! ing any of its evil effects. Old Chronic Cases j of Eruptions, Excema, &c, Can now ue Cured. "Eclectic Medicine being progressive in its nature, new remedies are constantly being found. The latest of them I have hr ought with Tne, which I will administer and sell at my hitherto reasonable prices. Two of these are the Gaacara Seqrada, highly prized in all the States as a tonic and aperient, and the Yerba Santa, a standard remedy in the Western States for bronchial and latyngeal disorders. Not being prejudiced against Parent Medicines,! have imported several well-known and now popular lines, such as Warner's Safe Kidney Cure ; West's Sugartsoated Liver PHla (a thousand free packetß given' away as samples), only Is 3d per box, some say they are superior to Holloway'B ; World's Wonder Family Liniment ; Extract of Witch Hasel. for piles, cuts, burns, &c. j Cough Syrup ; and other patents of known merit, coming direot from the maker. The price is very reasonable for all. Having now trained my assistants to manufacture my own compounds, which now command a Bteady sale, I am at liberty to treat my patrons, and give them the benefit of my knowledge. Having now one of the largest stocks of Botanic Medicines in the Colonies, I can supply whole- 1 sale and retail any of the numerous herbs used ia medicine, Of theee crude materials, which I can vouch for being of good quality, I manufacture the following well-known herbal medi- 1 cines : — Hop Bittera, of which several thousand bottleß have been made and Bold during the last year. The Balm of Gilead, which is now a favourite remedy for colds in any stage of development. The Composition Powder and EBaenoe, the moßfc successful medipine ever compounded for preventing and curing colds, sore throats, pains in the stomach, cramps, &0., a warming, stimulating, and healing medicine which equalises the circulation, opens the congested capillaries, and removes obstructions which in untold myriads of cases lead to death. Having, as before stated, trained his assist. ants to prepara these under his personal supervision, he intends to devote his time to the treatment of his patients who have so much faith in the Herbal System as to place themselves under bis care. To assist him in this work he has tbe books of the foremost Herbal and Eclectic Doctors, and also the leading journals which make a point to give the latest discoveries in medicine. '■' Remembering how many travelling quacks bad fleeced the people as Eye and Ear Doctors, ha took a course of lecfcnres and clinics at the Illinoiae State Eye and Ear Infirmary, where about 200 patients are treated daily ; and holds the Certificate signed by six of the most reputable hon. surgeons attending that first, class institution.
