MOERAKI.

The nomination of candidates for the Moeraki electorate took place on Monday at noon, at the Courthouse, about 200 persons being present. Mr J. T. Gwynne,' returmngofficer, having read the writ, the following gentlemen were nominated : —

Mr J. M'Kenzie— proposed by Mr W. H. Williams, seconded by Mr J. T, Donaldson. Mr Chabi.es Hatnes— proposed by Mr C. M'Gregor, seconded by Mr B. Clark. The Returning-officer having called for a show of hands, declared it to be in favour of Mr M'Kenzie. — Mr Haynes demanded a poll, and proceedings were adjourned until the 22nd inst.
