H« has now won the Grand Prix twico iti succession, having secured il; last year with Froutin. who just defeated the English Derby winner, St. Blaise, by a head. Little Duck is by the English sire See-Saw, and his dam is a mare of Mr Taylor SShapes.r p'e s.
The colt did not run laßt year. This season, however, he has pulled off a couple of races, and when the mail left ho was a warm favourite at 2 to 1 for the French Darby (Prix dv Jockey Club) which was to be run at Chantilly a fortI night before the Grand Prix. He is desoribed as having splendid shoulders, a very good back and loins, with legs as clean and well-propor-tioned as one could wish, his only defect boing that he is rather short. He has no engagements in Eneland. The Lambkin ran twice last year,. winning the Rous Plate of 397 soys at Doncaster in a field of 10, and running unplaced in the Choaterfield Nuraery Handicap of 975 hoys. Fra Diavolo won three races out of four in France last season, including the Grand Criterium of 788 soys at Paris. This year he was strongly fancied for several Spring events ; but iv the race for the Prix de Longchamps he pulled up suddenly and could not go a yard. It was believed that he had been " got at " and would not be abla v to be got fit for the Grand Prix The Grand Prix has now bean won by seven English and 14 foreign owners, as will be seen by the following table :—: — 1868 .
