TASMANIA v. INVERCARGILL RIFLES. When the Tasmanian cricketers were in Invercargill, Lieutenant K,ohn arranged that a match should be fired oft between the above teams on March 17 {St. Patrick's Bay); each team t6 shoot on'their own range; distances— 200, 400,, and 500 yards; seven shots at each range; 10 men a side. The Tasmanian. Rifles a.re armed with the Martini-Htnry rifle, which gave them a groat advantage over their opponentsj as the result showed, seeing that they beat the Invercargill team by 116 points,' making the splendid average of 87. The Invercargill team (who fired • with the Snider rifle), although anticipating a beating, determined to do their best, though under very unfavourable circumstances, as there was a puffy •wind from the east, with drizzling showers, and consequently the light was very bad. iNVBRCARQItL RIFLKS.
