February 12. Educational. — Messrs Elder and Prjde viwited Ho. pir'd lv;lesl v ;les on Thur-day last, for the purpose of choosing a sito for a schoolmaster's residence. S.Vfral places were pointed out as suitable, but as a hiaiter of course the B'te they decided to recommend was not made known.
0 he Kaik School.— The inhabitants of the Maori Ku k ara about to lose tha "services of Mr L units, tho schoolmaster there, who has accented an appointment ti a schcol in Lvttolton. I understand that the r-Sideutn at. the Kaik intend to deinonßtrale tnoir esteem for Mr Lucas before he leaves the district by giving him an entertainment and niakimr a suitable presentation on Thursday, the 14tb. I alsi hear it ii contemplated by the English Church i ortion of tbo community of Portobi Ho and Sttr.ounding localities to acknowledge his services in connection with tne church, Mr Lucas having acted as lay reader in the English church for Bevoial years past.
