WAIKAKA.
(FROM OUE OWN COKRfiyPO.NDRNT.) February 1 2 Scuooii and Church Matters.— Recently steps wero taken to obu*in another suhuoi in the di&trict. Messrs S. Why to and VV. Wad'jeil waited ou the Southland Education Board, as a.deputudon from the settlers, iv Bupptrt* of a petition, l'hey leceived a fair hearing, and ultimately an executive Committee was app nutcd to consider thia application, along with others. 'I he last time 1 wrote my remarks went to show the uudetirability of doing away with Divin9 service at tho Pinnacle School and erec ing a / meeting-honse elsewhere. Although our Churcn Committee have not been i-llc Biuce theu, matters are as they were, the Presbytery having not as jet defined the boun danea of the Gore ministerial charge. A large number of people attend fortnightly at the Pinnacle, aud i bLliuvo that they are almost unanimously averse to any al deration ttiat would leud to the disco utiuuauce of service there. Kegarding the meeting-house, I would ask, why should the tettlerd be placed in a prshion wnich would necessila'e the erection of one w hen thty avo already too heavily taxed by the Qovernmeni and local badies ?
