WAIKOIKOI. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

~ t , .. January 20. Our Library.— l hear it mooted that, it ia the intention of the Library Committee to make an effort to raise funds to found an athenaeum, wtiieh is ereatlv wanted in this rising district. The sum required would not bo a large one, seeing that the site will be got free from uovernment. I have heard it stated that there would be some difficulty in obtaining a Crown grant, but I am inclined to think that such would not be the case if the buainehs is only placer! in the hands of our able member, Captain M'Kenzie ■who is ever willing to use his influence in behalf or his constituents in any reasonable request tbat they may mako. So if we only wait a little, and exercise a modicum of patience, our member will, I have no .'.oubt, make our wants known in the proper quarter, ..ad represent us as faithfully as he haa done in the past.

MnsiOAii.— Our music class ia in a very healthy conriition under the able training of Mr Hamlin. A great iniprovonient ia perceptible in tho singing on Sundays. If regular practice {8 kept up for a faw

months longer, we Bha\l be in ,a position, to form a ve'y stiong choir. Once pet in motion it is sure to grow stronger and atronger, as wo have the material to work on.

School Matters —The day-pchool continues to be well attended, which ia satisfactory to parents and teachers alihe ; for without regular attendance the percent jgn of paa«3S must neceß><arily be low, and tho work is consequently apt to have a dragging tendency on tbo teacher.
