Mining at Macetown.

All the reefs are now in full operation, the weather being favourable, and water for crushing purposes plentiful The All Nations Company are about to lower 200 tons of stone by their tramway for crushing at the public battery. The Treasure are busy raising stone for a cake for Christmas.
The Defiance.are making good headway with their adit.
At Advance Peak the Keep-it-Dark are getting out some rich stone from a reef 4ft wide.
The Mountain Maid are busy sinking their 9haffc and are making good headway The stone which ia beinir raised is of very g od quality. The Homeward- Bound are crushing some very rich stone, some specim ms of which are equal to anything that has been seen in the field. Fuither exploration in the mine has disclosed payable quartz, which will pas dividend*. The Garibaldi Company have been getting some excelle.it stone from their shaft, quite equalling that whii h yielded rfoz per ton last season. The United Company huve god into haid country, which prevents progress being made at the tame rate as formerly, but it ia poesiblo that tho hard rock is only a bar. All the batteries on the field are now, or will shortly be, busy crushing. The Ludye Fayre will Bhortly complete their main pass, after which sloping out will commence. The reef, so far as proved, is very regular, and shows good prospects CaKes are expectacl from the Premier and Gladstone almoht uaily. Arrow, December 1. The Premier Company have struck the r»ef in ft drive off ihe winz , 75ft from where it dippedibelow r.ha floor of the main adit, and at a depth of 58f 6 below the main adit The reef has been pierced to a width of 3ft, and tiiere are no signs of its being broken throu- h. This is a most important discovery, as it is possible it may riso to any height on the footwall above the main adit, in which case a great quantity ol stone would be commanded The Premier cake came down from Macetown last night, and weighs 5170z out of 483 tons of stone.
