In my last communication to the Witness I omitted to state that the sum of £S3 some odd shillings was recently sent to ths widow of the late Thomas White, who is li.ing at Hmdon. This was exclusive of £5 previously forwardeJ. It will be remembered that the unfortunate man was accidentally killed at Ngapara. This liberal sub-cdpiLn will, it is hoped, be of great s-ervice to Mrs White Social— An amateur Ch isty Minbtrel Club has latch been formed here. Practising is entered into heartily, and this, if only persevered in, promises to be a source of pleasure and amubement. The Ctub is composed of some^ls members. '1 hey wi 1 probably make their flr»t appearance in public next month Tint Railway.- Ca'ting down is almost finished, consequently little graiu is being forwarded on the line. The remaining light rails between Windsor and Ngapara are being lifted, and heavier onos put in their place. This certainly i» a step in the right direction.
