Messrs Bastings, Leary, and Co. report the safe of the following properties on Saturday afternoon (Ist) :- Part of section 22, block XXII, Leith street, Dunedm, £455 ; and the leasehold of soctions 13 and 14, block XVII, York plaoe, Dunedin, for £65. At Messrs M'Laudres3, Hepburn, and Co. 8 f-ale of property un Monday afternoon, that poition of Dr 81. if 'a property being part of section 1, block XXIX, having a frontage of 66fc. to George sticct, by a depth of 100 ft. to Albany street, together with the family residence, stables, coachhouse, &c. erected thereon, Was sold to Mf A. Dornwell for £1700. ' At uamaru, on Saturday, Messrs Fleming and Herlley submitted several properties to public auction ut their stores in Tyne street. There was a voiy large attendance, and tho principal property (that of »l<c A. Graham) was disposed of at what may be considered a very satisfactory figure. The land Was into six lots, and realised as follows .--Lot 1, containing 25 acres 3 roods, £13 per acre. Mr J. Bullocks fetched from £7 to £10, and cowp £3 17s 6d to £7 16s. We sold 28 bullocks from the Seadown Estate at from £7 to £9 10s per head. Quotation for beef, 20s to'22s 6d per 1001b. Fat Sheep.— 3oo3 worn penned, of which 300 were stores. This number, though not up to the figures of the lost two weeks, proved more than sufficient after tho late heavy supplier, and a further drop of Is to Is 6d per head must be reported. Grain. — Wheat: Holders continuing firm at their limits, and millers evincing no desire to operate except at lower prices, bubiuoas is practically at a standstill, and quotations must be considered nominal. There was the usual attendance of the tiad", and with good competition the various lots were disposed of at prices showing an improvement on last week's values. OAfca : The demand has not been so brisk during the week, owing to the fall in the Sydney market ; but there is no' material alteration observable. Wo quoto milling, 3d Id ; feed, 23 lid to 3s. Barley : Prime samples for malting purposes are in demand, but medium descriptions are less inquired for. We quote up to 5s for prime malting (nominal).

Fat Sheep.— To-day's supply was again a large one : 3003 wore penned ; except some 300 stores, these were chiefly good quality, and included a few pens prime merinos. The market generally was a very dull onevendors havintr to accept lower prices. Prime cross breds sold at 12s to Us 6d ; a few extra heavy weights to 15s 6d ;'good do, 10s 6d to lls 9d ; beat merinos, 9s to 10s 6d. We sold for General Fulton (Outram), 169 crossbreds to 12s Od. We quote prime mutton 21d to 2£d per lb. Pigs.— Only 19 came forward. A few of these were bacon pipfs, which we sold at 70s. Wo sold 160 for forward delivery at 4d per lb.

Sheepskins. —On Monday wo offered a full catalogue, which included some good country lots. Bidding was brisk, showing an improvement in prices. Crossbreds, dry, sold at 2s 3d to ss ; green do, 3s 9d to 4s 7d ; dry merino, 3s Id to 4h lOd ; green do, 2s lid to 3s 3d. Hides. -The demand is steady for best heavy lots at 3Jd to 3,] d, others 3d. THE LABOUR MARKET. Mr Skunk reports for tho week ending 5tH July:— Wo have got over the dead of winter without much to complain of. Short days, blcct and snow and mud '/ are all meant to " work together for our good." Yet it seems to bo very grievous to many who are paid by the day.
