CHESS NOTES.
It is evident from the notes of busy preparation that reach us from every quarter of the "chess world," that the approaching congress at Vienna, which openß on the 10th of May, will be the most brilliant and important assemblage of chess giauts ever gathered together to discuss their rival claims. From England we learn that Steinitz, Zukertorfc, Blackburne, and Mason 'will positively enter thu lists' and our friends abroad will doubtless receive with' unbounded applause the intelligence that America will be represented by at leasts three ventuious aspirants. Mr Max Judd arrived in this city on the 18th insc, and will proceed direct to Vionna via Paris; and if the entries should not be too numerous he will participate in the grand battle. Captain Mackenzie, we aro assured, will certainly sail next week, and Mr P. Ware, jun , of Boston and Fifth American Chess Congress fame, has absolutely departed for the seat of war, having taken every wise precaution before leaving to write to the Vienna committee and ask for permission to enter. We have not vet heard that Mr Grundy has sought the same jprivilo c. —New York Turf.
