OUTR M ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held on the 24th inst. Present : Messrs Shand (chairman), Allan, Grant, W. Adams, jiui., Stevenson, and Caruthttrs. The clerk was instructed to write to Shand's trustees regarding the opening of a road-lino through section ii, irregular block, Maungatua district.

After discussion, it was shown to be the unanimous opinion of the Board that this road district should be continued under the Road Board Act, and not merged in the county ; and Mr Sliand, the chairman of the Board, was requested, as member of the County Council for this riding, to support a rate of nob more than sixpence in the pound m a

county rate, and also to ask that the road from Outram to Greytown and the road from Berwick to Henley be taken over by the County Council. | A' petition was presented by Mr Stevenson > from a number of ratepayers in the Henley subdivision, requesting the Board to make a drain, the outlet to be between sections 49 and 50, block IV, Maungatua district.— lt was proposed by Mr Allan, seconded by Mr Gkant, and carried— " That the petition be received, and that the Board will take the matter into consideration at an early date." A letter was received from the Waipori Road Board requesting this Board to repair and make passable the road leading^from Beiv wick to Henley. — The clerk was^ instructed to inform the Waipori Road Board tlfatvthe member of the County Council for this riding has been requested to move in the County Council that the road in question be made a county road, and also to bring under the notice of the Waipori Road Board that until some limit is put on the loads carried by the bullock teams it is utterly impossible to keep up the road in question. A tender was received for contract No. 2 from Mr T. Bathgate, at 15s 6d per chain.— Resolved that Mr Bathgate's tender be accepted. Accounts amounting to £44 16s 9d were passed for payment.
