, June 17th. The adjourned meeting of the Macraes Licensing Committee was held en Wednesday last, the membors present being Messrs A. D. Bell (chairman), J. Dent, A. Fraser, and Massey. Mr Kitchen being under the doctor's care, was not able to be present. The business before the Licensing Bench consisted of seven applications, all of which were granted. Several amounts were passed for payment, and the clerk was voted £4 4b per annum for his 89' vices. A concert and ball in aid of Macraes school fund are to take place on Friday evening, 23rd mat. Help has been promised from all parts of the district, and large numbers have promised to attend from Hyde, StrathTaieri, Moonlight, Waihemo, and Shag Valley. The affair is in good hands, and I have no hesitation in predicting a successful issue. The proceeds are to go towards fencing in the new residence and glebe. Snow is away from our midst once again, aud we are now enjoying Deautiful open waather ; but the roads are something dreadful 'for mud ; wo have to see that our boots are well secured on our feet, or we should probably find ourselves minus of them.

June 20th.

The weather has changed again. On Monday evening, about 4 o'clock, it commenced to rain, and has kept on steadily all night— l 6 hours— aDd there are no signs of its abating up to the time of my writing. The flat is covered with water, and there is evory prospect of a big iiood.
