The barque Duke of Sutherland, lying in the roadstead, struck tho ground this evening and filled with water. She is still afloat, but the crew have left her, having been taken off by the boats of the ship Benvenue. A very heavy sea is rolling in. She was being loaded with grain, and hn.4 over 1000 sacks of wheat aboard, shipped by the New Zealand Grain Agency Company, and was expected to sail on Thursday. The vessel was drawing 18 feet, and lying in 27 feet. The vessel and cargo avo frllv insured.
