A SUGGESTION.

By a late report of the proceedings of the Acclimatisation Society, I observe several valuable consignments of salmon and trout ova have perished from improper, packing, or want of due attention. This seems a,, clumsy and very unsatisfactory way of going to work. To lepsen^tfte likelihood in future of such a deplorable waste of trouble and expense, and loss

of valuable cargo! I would suggest that printed directions should be prepared, with full and minute details as to the proper mode of packing the ova, and as to the treatment of it on board the ship ; and that such printed directions should be placed in the hands of all people who are likely to have anything to do with the management of the packing, forwarding, or care of the ova on board.
