GORE (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
•1 ; ; . i;- ,■' ■ ■ April 25th. - ; Wo are now anxiounly anticipating; the erection of the long-prqmißed railway station , At the daily arrivals of the express train thrj platform is a perfect; crush— not an inch of space is available for the trans- ■ fer of lugerage, &c.' The present apology 'for' a ladies' • waiting-room, (heayen save the.purk) is.the receptacle for all ports of miscellaneous, articles, ho other place being, available fqr the. storage of parcelß, &c. At Gordon, aldq, very much' nfoossity exists fdr tho appointmeht of some reaponsible person to take charge ''of' t.he"gooda-Bhed. A very large quantity of grain is annually , desp itched from this , station, and some ; -.arrangement, such as indicated, above, is now absolutely essential. , , , , The Town Boards of Gore and Gordon have now got into working order, and seem disposed to push on 'with impri'veraents in iheir several distric s.' I deem ' the separation (municipally) a mistake, m muchmore advantageous use of the funds availaulo . cou'd, liayo< been made as, a united Board., Gore, however, has many advantages over Gordon, as' far as funds are concerned. The former is not only free from debt, but haa a credit balance from' deferred-payment lapd .sales due them by the county.' The Gore Town Board 1 has also a very valuableasset in the possession of a large number of, valuable municipal reserves— comprising quarter, m we!l;ds five and ton-acre suburban sections —in all some; thirty acres or more. , The revenue dc1 riyable' from this endowment will prove a great assist- ' ance in Ih'e future! Gordon, much less fortunate, has 'only the Domain Reserve to depend upon. This, of course, will provo'a valuable sourco of income. It was a grievous blunder of those connected witfo the survey and. sale of this township, that more sections, , were not reserred' frona snle for the future iho of tho ' corporation. Efforts are now being made $6, aec'ure'a number of allotments, and 1 trußt that tho Board may' be successful. In obtaining a separation from: the Knapdale Road Board district, Gordon will be-saddled with a debt of from £200 t0 ,£300.' The encumbrance' willidoubtlesu prove, a great hindrance. ,
