Cricket.
A few matches between the minor clubs were contested on Saturday, but there is nothing of any great importance to chronicle. The following were a few of the games :—: — On the Caledonian ground a match was played between the employes of the firm of Messrs Bing, Harris, and Co. and Messrs Butterworth Bros, and resulted in a draw— the scoies being: Bing, Harris, and Co., 91; Bu'tterworth Bros., 56 for eight wickets. Fitzer (38) and Austin (34, not out) were the highest Bcorerß for their respective sides. The Grange 0.0. Bcored an easy win over Reid 1 and Gray's 0.0. First Eleven by 72 runs, the scores being— R. and G., 16 runs; G. 0.0., 88 ■• runs. G. Burn (with 6 runs, not out);was | -the highest' scorer for R. and G.s, while for the G.C.C. G. Haydon (29), Murray (14), Grieva (U),' and Leask (15 not out) played well. H. and A. Turnbull bowled well for the G. 0.0., A. Turnbull taking six wickets for 11 runs, and his brother four wickets for 5 A "match was played at Port Ohalmera on Saturday, between the Anderson's Bay 0.0. and an eleven of the Port Chalmers 0.0. , which resulted in a win for the local club on the first innings by three runs. # The stares ■ were:— Anderson^ Bay : Ist innings, 57 ;.2nd innings, three wickets for two runs. Port Chalmers : Ist innings, 60. The highest scorers for the losers were— Begg (19), J. Sanderson (9), and Wilson (8), and for the winners Foster (22, not out), Waters (8), and Coleman (7). A match was 'played on Saturday between North 'and- Scoullar's and Guthrie and Larnach's elevens, and resulted in a victory for the former by 10 wickets. The highest scorers for Northland . Scoullar's. were Oarr (25) and In the match at Roslyn between the local club and ah eleven from the' Railway Depart,ment, the former club came off victorious by one innings and; 13 runs. For Roslyn Robmaon (25), Higgins (13), and Mackintosh (12) were top scorers. ,-The players who got into double figures for the losers .were Longford and Ross. " • " , .
