IMPORTANT GRAIN SALE AT STUDHOLME JUNCTION.

An important sale of >grain was held by the/New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited), in their stores at Studholme Junction yesterday, at which very high values were realised for all lots offered. The first lot submitted consisted of 6000 bushels of really prime velvet chaff wheat, which was speedily disppsed of at 4s 4d on tho spot. Further parcels of a similar quality, of 4000 and 1500 buahels leipectively, realised 4s sd, and one lino of 20,000 bushels of red chaff was sold at 4s 2d. A parcel of purple straw, not < quite up to the other lots in quality, fetched 4s 3d. Two very fair samples of old long oats Drought 3s Id to 3s 2d, and barley sold as high as 4s 4d for malting descriptions of good quality. The bidding was very spirited throughout, buyers from Oamaru, Timaru, Christchurch, and further north competing keenly for all lots submitted. As giving a clear illustration of the present values of all classes of cereals, yesterday's sale was very marked ; and when growers have it demonstrated to them at open 'auction that prime milling wheat is readily bought at equal to 4s 7d in Timaru, they will have only themselves to blame if they do not get on tho right side of the hedge while they have such a splendid opportunity of doing so.— Timaru Herald.
