NORTH DUNEDIN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
i The Rev; A.. C. Gillies was inducted into the pastoral chargeof the North Dunedin Presbyterian Church on Tuesday morning, in the presence of a large' number of the congregation, by the Rev. 0. S. Ross, of Anderson's Bay. The ceremony being over, the Rev. Dr Stuart proceeded to address the Rev. Mr Gillies, who replied in suitable terms, after which the congregation was addressed by the Rev. Mr Watt. :In the, evening a social , gathering andtea; ■ meeting was held .in connection with the induction. The Rev. Mr Gillies, who was introduced to the congregation by the Rev. Mr Ross, was in the chair, and briefly addressed the meeting. ■Mr W. Hutton, one of the, elders of the church, then presented the Rev.' Mr Ross with aipurae of 25 sovereigns on behalf of, the congregation for the able way he had filled the capacity of moderator of the church since the resignation of the former minister. ■ The Sabbath-school had continued to make good progress, and it was proposed to hold quarterly examinations and award prizes at the end of the year. There were connected with the school 20 teachers besides the four who had charge of the library. The total number of pupils on the roll wag 250, and the average attendance 155. jThe meeting was then addressed by the Revs. Copland, Michie, Arnot, and Niven, and Messrs Wright, Torranc6, Green, and Brunton. ' . • ' , 1 -The choir gave a number df selections in good style during the evening. l( The meeting terminated with the customary votes' of thanks to the choir and the ladies who had gratuitously provided the comestibles.
