Land Board.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday, when there were present— Messrs J. P. Maitland (Chief Commissioner), J. B. Bradshaw, H. Clark, J. Green, and J. Duncan.

INSPECTION OF RUNS. It was resolved— " That in view of the Government agreeing with the Board as to the desirability of some of its members visiting the various runs and portions of runs reserved for settlement, in order to make recommendations as to dealing with the same ; Commissioners Clark and Green be appointed for this purpose, and that the Chief Surveyor be in- \ formed that the Board will be glad if he can accompany the Commissioners on their visit of inspection." ! { PASTORAL DEFERRED-PAYMENT LANDS. i Messrs Connell and Moodie wrote: — ' l We have been applied to by several of our constituents for information as to when the lands reserved out of the various pastoral leases falling in March, 1883, will be disposed of by the Land Board on pastoral deferred payments and 'otherwise. Some of these parties endeavoured jto obtain pastoral licenses at the late, sale on the 27th February, but were unable to do so, and are now waiting on with the intention of taking up blocks on the pastoral deferred-pay-ment system. As we have reason to believe that a large number of persons are similarly situated, we would beg respectfully to suggest that some intimation or notification of the areas of land to be offered in the various districts, with the approximate size of the blocks into which the land is being subdivided, and the dates or approximate dates at which the same will be opened, should be published for public information." The Chief Commissioner stated that a number of persons had called upon him for the information required by Messrs Connell and Moodie, and he had already written to the Government on the subject. ' The application of John 'M. M'Rae to purchase section 13, block 11, Chatton district, was granted. FORTROSE. Several residents of Fortrose requested that the north-east portion of section 2, block IV, Fortrose township, containing about 10 acres, should be made a recreation reserve, and that a certain person should be appointed trustee for the same. — It was decided to recommend the Government to make the reserve as requested. ji kurow.
