H. Fen wick, a member of the United Club, Christchurch, on Friday, made 170 in a match Bankers v. Insurance Companies. In a cricket match played at Christchurch on Friday by members of the " Muff Club," there was some hard hitting. Mr Hall made a score of 93, not out, towards the end of which he hit nine successive 4's, followed by a single, 6, and 4, thus making 47 in 12 consecutive hits.
The life of a prince is evidently not one of ease. A story comes from England that a short time ago a well-known baronet, who represents an important constituency near London, asked tho Prince of Wales to t;vke tho chair at an annual dinner of a big society. He received a courteous reply from the heir apparent, stating how greatly he was interested in the society in question, but regretting hisinability to preside at tho banquet ; that he wawjooked for every day and evening for the ne.w'two year 3, but possibly something could, bo arranged for the third.
