Consols, 100 J. New Zealand securities :— Five per cent. 10-40 loan, 103£, ex div. ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 104 i; 4i per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 100£. Adelaide wheat (ex warehouse), 535 ; New Zealand wheat, 495. Adelaide flour (ex warehouse); 38s. Australian tallow: Best beef, 40s; beßt mutton, 455. At the wool auction to-day 10,900 bales were offered, and there was a good demand. Prices for medium to fine greasy wool rule id to Id higher than at the last sale ; for washed fleeces about Id higher ; for scoured also about 2d higher; and for crossbreds Jd to Id higher than last sales. ( . . . The Homeward Australian mail, via Brindisi, which left Melbourne on February Ist,
was delivered in London to-day. - " ' Tbe;trial of U. G. F. Lamson, surgeon, who was arrested on a charge of jjoisoning his brother-in-law, Percy Malcolm John, at Wimbledon in December last, concluded to-day. The accused was found guilty of murder, and sentenced to death. Her Majesty left Windsor Castle to-day for Mentone, in the south of France. Paris, March 14th. It is announced that M. Brediff, who has been appointed to temporarily succeed M. Blignieres as Controller-general in Egyt, will act under the French Consul-general. ' Athens, March 14th. ■ A new Ministry has been formed under the presidency of M. Tricoupis, in succession to the Government of M. Coumoundouros.
