John H. Every. Give the Boys a Chance. 'Last year X read a bit of advice to the effect that fawners who won't take care of poultry Bhould give them to the boys. lam one of that kind— never take any care of poultry: can't do it— and so I told my boy James that if he would take charge of them, fix up a house for them, feed them all winter, &0., he might have all the eggs we didn't wu at the table. He jumped at the chance ; and with my help and money ho built a nice warm honae last fall, and took entire charge of the flock. The flock is a mixture of all kindssome Spaniih, some Leghorns, and the retf half-breeds, dunghills, with other breads. This 'spring he separated the pare Black Spanish and the Leghorns, and h»H wed all the egg* for setting, and has now ov«<r a hundred little chicks of both breeder. Ha intendt* to sell and kill all the mongrels and keep none but the layers, except a few to seL \ye have'nsed lotß of eggs,' but in spite of that James has sold $36 worth and pocketed the money. , I think h has done him more than ten times that much good. He has become qnito a fancier, although but 15 years old, and haa infused some of the poultry fever into me, so that I felt like letting othera know how the thing works, and to advise them to give their boys & chance also.
'There is nothing that will do a boy more good, and train him into business habits »» quick and effectually, as to take him Into par • cership in Boma of the operati >pb of the farm. T hnvp, rri«d it, and know.— E. P. Harding, in Ohio Farmer.' i>uuedin, 24th February.
