' The first quarterly meeting'of the new Otakia iiicensing Committee was held in the hallj Greytown, on Tuesday, when all the members were present. : Mr John , Stevenson, waa ■ unanimously elected chairman. . > Saturday, April 29th, was appointed the day , on which to take: the poll of ratepayers as to > the granting of new licenses. ■ t ; ' The clerk was instructed to obtain a regis^ • ter of licenses, in accordance with! section 113 of the Licensing Act. x " ( . ! ,The' report, of the inspectors for the district ' was received and considered satisfactory.- . •' t'AWBBNOE EAST. ■ ] The Lawrence East .Licensing Committee; j held its first meeting on Tuesday. Ifraerand George Walker were -proposed for -the office of chairman, and thej totter was elected by three votes to two. . ■ , ; A transfer of the Masonic Hotel license to - Mr Webb was grarited.
