Caledonian Club v. Milton.
The return match between these clubs was played on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for the visiting team by 15 points, a somewhat unexpected result considering the keenness of the green. No. 1 rink resulted in a hollow defeat for the home team by 21 to 8 ; No. 2 finished seven points ahead of Milton ; and No. 3 also proved a win for the Caledonian Club, but by one point only. The following were the respective scores at the conclusion of each quarter of an hour :— Quarter Milton Caledoniau. Stewart (skip) 21 Gordon (skip) 20 After the match was over the visiting team were entertained at luncheon at Ogg's Hotel, and after full justice had been done to the excellent spread provided, the president of the Caledonian Club proposed " The health of the visitors," and thoroughly spoke his mind with reference to the evident want of practice exhibited by his club ; and the vice-president of the Milton Club, in replying, referred to the cordial manner in which the two clubs invariably met, and stated that he looked forward with great pleasure to the meetings of next year. This closed the formal proceedings, and the visiting team left for the train. In less than half an hour afterwards the, green was two inches under water owing to the heavy rain.
Dunedin Club v. Fernhill Club.
The annual match between the Dunedin and Fernhill Bowling Clubs took place on Saturday on the ground of the former. The Fernhill men were not so successful as on the last occasion when they met the Dunedin Club, owing to the tact of their having lost several of the old members. There was a large number of onlookers interested in the match, but th© game was frequently interrupted by the rain. The following are the scores :— DUNEDIN. FBUNHILL
