/ 'Bice puddings are greatly improved by the addition of stale breadcrumbs, one-third being the proper proportion. 'Apple Cheesecakes.— Half pound stewed apples, Jib augar, £lb butter, the rind of one lemon, the juioe of two, and two eggs. Bake in patty pan, lined with paßte. | Muffins.— One pint of milk, four eggs ; one pint of flour, butter size of an egg, one gill of yeast, a little sugar. Raise three hours ; set in rings into a baking pan ; a little soda v they are risen too much. j Shebbet. — Powdered white sugar, 1 lb ; carbonate of soda, 2 oz ; tartario acid, 3 oz ; essence of lemon, 1 drachm. Mix well ateaspoonfnl of the powder in a tumbler of cold water. Very refreshing. I Ginoebbbead. — One cup of butter, two of molasses, four of flour, two eggs, one table* spoonful |of soda in one cup of boiling water, one full teaspoonful of ginger, one-half nutmeg grated, two teaspoon fala of cinnamon. A Good Disinfectant fob the Mouth.— Permanganate of potash and binoxide of barium, of each 24 grains, are to be rubbed up into a mass, with sugar and glycerine, and divided into 144 lozenges. It is said that the use of these will remove all disagreeable odour from the breath
Meat Fib.— Take mashed potatoes/seasoned with salt, butter, and milk, and line a baking dish 1 ." Lay upon it cold meat of any kind ; add salt, pepper,' catsup, and buttery or any oold gravy ;' put in a layer of meat in the same way till the dish is full ; have a layer of potatoes on the top. Bake until it is thoroughly heated through. ■ White Sponoh Cake.— The whites of eleven eggs, one-and-a-half tumblers of sifted, granulated sugar, one do sifted flour, one teaspoonful cream tartar, one and a-half do vanilla; beat the eggs very stiff on a large platter, then add first the sugar and then the flour (the flour mußt be sifted twice, then measured); add cream of tartar and sift again, the frequent sifting being necessary to the lightness of the cake; add vanilla and bake one hour in a moderate oven ; when done, turn the pan upside down, and when cool, take out the oake and ice it. '
