Land Board.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board on Wednesday was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Maitland), Commissioners J. B, Bradshaw, H Clark, Jas. Green, and J. Duncan.

SOUTH TUAKITOTO.

Ranger Hughan reported on the application of Mr Adam Landells to purchase Crown lands fronting sections 9 and 10, Tuakitoto district, and suggested that the same be refused ; but that a lease be granted should the applicant desire it. — The following resolution was passed : — " The Board is willing to grant a license for a jetty site if that will suit the applicant's views, on the understanding that the traffic along the road by the side of the lake is not interfered with."

EAST GORE.

Ranger Hughan reported on suburban de-ferred-payment sections 1 and 2, block XXI, East Gore, licensed to J. D. Simpson, and stated that the same was unoccupied, and no improvements of any kind had been made. He, therefore, recommended that the license be cancelled. — License to be forfeited accordingly.

ROCKY POINT, Mr Geo. M'Lauchlan wrote accepting 50 acres at the junction of Bendigo and Cromwell Runs as suggested, in terms of section 6G of "The Mines Act, 1877." — To bo recommended to the Government accordingly.

EARNSLAW. Mr Jno. E. Haines requested that the proclamation setting apart sections 1, 2, 5, and G, block I, in this district, as deferred-payment lands, bo revolted, and the land opened for sale at £1 per acre. — It was resolved— " That the Government bo recommended to revoke the proclamation as suggested, with 1 a view to the land being offered for sale for cas.li, the sections not being suitable for deferred-payment occupation."

MAKREWHENUA. Ranger Valpy reported Daniel Weir's roqucht to be. relieved of ' deferred payment section 2, block X, in this district, and 'stated that the conditions had not been fulfilled. —License to be forfeited for non-payment of rent and failure to comply with the conditions of occupation.

SILVER PKAK. Mr Chas. Higgins asked leave to absent himself for threo months from his deferredpayment section 1, block V, in this district, as provided by section 86 of the Act.— Granted.

BUNG Ell.

Tho District Laud Officer, Clyde, reported

an application by Messrs Cargill and Anderson to purchase 460 acres on run west of section 3, block VIJ, Benger, in order to complete their water supply, recommending that the same be granted.— The application was eventually declined.

APPLICATIONS TO LEASE, PURCHASE, ETC. The following applications to purchase under agricultural lease were granted :— John Ross, sections 33 and 55, block XIV, Tuapeka East ; Margaret Cameron, section 1, block VI, MidWakatipu. The application of John Wither to purchase section 4, block VI, Cowburn, was recommended for the Governor's approval. J. E. Attwood's application to purchase section 28, block IX, Toi-Tois, held on deferred-payment license, was granted. Permission to purchase under deferredpayment lease was granted to Denis Roughan, sections 93, 94, and 112, block I, and section 9, block IV, Tuapeka East.
