LICENSENG COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

JfOIININGTON SECOND DISTRICT. The following is the result of the poll takou for this district on the 23rd ult :—

These were declared duly elected by the Re-turning-officer, the poll being announced at 6.25 p.m. The names of the other candidates and the numbers of votes they polled are :— David Lees Simpson, 25 ; James Stanafield,' 15 ; George Scott, 12 ; John Smith, 9 ; John Page, 5 ; Lloyd Abraham Williams, 3. There wore two informal votes. The polling for the election of a Licensing Committee for Caversham South took place on Friday, and resulted as follows :— William Bragg, 11 ; Robert Rutherford, 9 ; John Craig, 7; William Ings, 7; Joseph H. Kilgour, 7; David E. Blacke, (>, Messrs Bragg, Rutherford, Craig, Ings, and Kilgour wero declarod duly elected. Only 13 out of 190 ratepayers visited the polling-booth. OAVEUSHAM NOBTH. A poll for the election of five persons to serve as a committee for this district was takeu at the Town Hall, Caversham, on Thursday, and shortly after li o'clock the Returning-officer (Mr R. 13. Martin) announced the result as follows : —

Our Lawrence correspondent informs us that the following gentlemen have been elected without opposition for Beaumont :— Messrs IDimant, Pilling, Bennet, Henderson, and Richardson. As the last-named is in the employ of the County Council, there is some question whether he can sit. A petition has been lodged against the return of Messrs Docherty and Harrop, for Lawrence Central, on the ground that Mr x . Nicoll, who voted, lives beyond the boundary of the district. Messrs Docherty and Harrop intend sending in their resignations in order to save trouble and expense m the matter to the petitioner and to the borough. OUTRASI. The polling for the above district took place on Friday, and resulted as follows :-James Shand, 18; Peter Grant, 17; William Grant, 15 ; Alexander Ohiaholm, 14 ; James M'Brearty, 13 ; Gilbert Buchanan. 10. The first five were declared elected. SODTH DUNEDiN NORTH. The poll for the South Dunedin North Jcenßing district was taken on Saturday, and resulted in the following gentlemen being returned :—

The names of the other candidates and the numbers of votes they polled are :— Henry Ely Shacklock (30), Patrick Carey (27). Benjamin Throp (22), and Charles Boelke (15). RAVENSBOURNE. j The election of tho Ravensbourne Licensing Committee took place on Saturday, and r'oBulted as follows :—

Messrs, Gillander, Stephens, Jack, Blackie, and Boon were declared elected. About one- , fourth of the -ratepayers recorded votes, one of which' was informal. . MAORI HILL NORTH Messrs' Andrew Hogg and Lewis Lawson having withdrawn their names as candidates for the abovenamed' licensing district, and the number of candidates being thus reduced to five, Messrs Robert Davidson, William Jones, Robert Rossbotham, George Kendall, and Edward Tanner have been declared duly elected as a Committee. ' Inveroargill, February 22nd. The following gentlemen have been elected Licensing Committee men for the Second Ward of the borough of Invercargill -.—Messrs W. Craig, R. Cleave, G. Froggatt, J. Hatch, and J. Ejngsland. Four of these were on the temperance ticket.ahd three on the ticket issuedby the licensed victuallers. The polling for five members of the Blueskin , licensing committee took place at the Good • Templars' Hall on Monday, the following being the result :—
