WAIKOUAITI ROAD BOARD
■ A meeting of tho above Board was held in tho Merton Schoolhouae on Saturday last. Preßont- , Messrs Hammond (chairman), M'Uillivray, Konyon, Lindsay, Pryde, M'Donald, Smart, Ros3, Pullar, and Guild. 'I he minutes of the annual meeting, held on the 17th ult. ; also minutes of ordinary meeting, hold on same date, were read and approved. Tho outward correspondence was accepted as read. Carey's Contract. — The Inspector reported that this contract was not finished to his satisfaction, consequently he could not pass the account.— The contractor, being present, was informed by the chair that the Inspector's decision was final. Contracts. The following tenders were accepted :— Peter M'Gregor and Co., metal per chain, contracts 1 and 2, £2 103 and £1 18s ; Benjamin Yeoman, contract on Clovedon Swamp road, £1 8s ; George Wilson, bridge contract in Merton Swamp, £9. Nanki veils' Road.— A letter was received from J. Smith County Clerk, stating that the Council declines to arrange with Messrs Qellibrand for a deviation through section 5, block VIII, and intimating that the Council were willing to expend the moDDy voted (£7O) on the road through the reserve. -Received. The Clerk produced the working plans from the County Inspector of contracts 1, 2, and 3, on this road. Mr Prvdb proposed, and Mr M'GiliLivray seconded —"That the Clerk call tenders for tho work by this day three w eeks. . Old Road-Lines.— Two letters were received from Mr G M'Lean, M.H R., relative to the transferring of old roads; also from the Chief Surveyor, asking plans of all roads requiring to be transferred.— The Clerk was directed to forward the same. Defaulters.— Mr M'Donald proposed, and Mr Kknyon seconded— " That tho Collector sue all defaulters for rates at once."— Carried unanimously. Kouiul-Uill Road.— R. Round Hili;Orosslng.-A letter was received from Mr J. Lee, Railway Inspector .Permanent Ways, innmating that the crossing, half a-mlle north of Oniimi, was now finished, and open for traffic - Roceiyed. Deviations.— Plans of road deviations in sections 11 and 17, duly certified by the Chief Surveyor, were received from Messrs Barr and Oliver ; also full descriptions of the several parcels of lands. Closing Roads. The Clerk was directed to proceed with the closing of all road-lines in the district, already agreed on. Accounts.— The following accounts were pissed for payment: J. Shiva's contract on Moore's road, Merton, SA 19s ; W. Stead, contract on Stead s road, Beaeonttfield, £2 18s; F. Gilbert, three days on Warrington road, 18s.
