Land Board.
The ordinary meeting of the Land Board oh Wednesday was attended by the Chief Comm!s # aioner (Mr J. P. Maitland), Mesara Reeves* Green, Bathgate, Bradshaw, and Clark.
COAST DISTRIOT.
Mr Daniel Stewart, solicitor, applied on behalf of Andrew Thow for sanction of assign* merit of his lease, No. 107, sections 1, 2, and 3, block XVII, Ooast district, to Alexander Mainland. — The assignment was sanctioned, subject to all rant due being paid up. KAITANQATA.
An application was received from Joseph Smith for lease of eight acres adjoining^ his present area in section 4, block IX, Kaftan* gata district, for mining purposes, or to be allowed to purchase 20 acres of same section. — Referred to ranger for report. Messrs Gillies, Street, and Hislop appeared on behalf of John Tobin to request a rehearing of his application to purchase the land at Kaitangata on which hia fellmopgery stands.— It was decided th&t the application in qu9&tion should come before the Board on Wednesday, sth October.
SHOTOVBB. The District Land Officer, Queensfcown, sent in valuation on portion of sections 36, 37, and 67, block VII, Shotover district, weßt of road-line proposed to.be sold to W. 1 ~ l] SIIVBE PE4K. An adWned request was heard from JSZ* Coinell and Moodte on behalf of P. I* KeoKh to have section 1, block VII, Silver freak offered for apphcation at LI per S?-t£ ! Board resolved that if the Crown iand Officer was of opinion that the Land Act would allow it, the Board wa-J ia favour of -opening pastoral deferred-payment land for application in the same manner as rural de-ferred-payment land, after baviog been twice offered for sale without finding a purchaser under section 44, aubioctions 1 and 2. TUAPEKA EAST. A report was received from the District Land Officer, Lawrence, respecting the openiug of unleased land block VII,' Tuapeka Bast, for immediate sale at LI per aero instead of for agricultural leasing — The Board decided that tha block should remain in its present position. MANIOTOTO. Messrs Connell and Moodie on behftlf of Mr P. J. Greer applied for leave to purchase tailings -reserve block XIII, in this district.— Referred ' to. the District Land Officer for report.
QUEENBTOWN. '' The Chief Commissiover requested the Board to appoint an appraiser to value Crown land* at Queens'tdwn under section 164, Land Aqt, 1877.— 1t was resolved that Mr Jackson -Keddell be appointed. APPLICATIONS TO LEASE, PURCHASE, ETC- f Mineral (coal) leases were applied for Dv - Jobn»P*ytfe, section 10, block I,< Baonockburn, andTbbs; ! M'Nrilty and another, eecaon 25 } block I; Cromwell. Notice of Board's mtenj tion to grant f;he leases in question was ordered ,' toibe gazetted, aa required by the regulations. An application from Robert GWmour tojpurohdse'agricultural lease sections 8 and 48, block ■VI 'Shotover, waß approved, An application from George' Bartlett to 'purchase under de-ferred-payment lease section 4, block VI, Wai : tahun'a East, was also approved.
